Does the Rosetta Stone language software really work?
Does it do a good job teaching you different languages? Or, is it better to take language classes at a local community college?
Use it as a supplement only. It is very expensive for what it offers. It is based on the way that children adapt to language, i.e. repetition, example and intuition. I have seen military versions also, developed in the late 80’s. The students using this form of learning spoke better at a faster rate than those using a traditional rote method. Those learning in the traditional method read better than the intuitive students. About halfway through a 47 week course, the two scores of both systems merged. The advantages of either system was negated as the students “caught up” with each other.
It is completely untrue that this method is the preferred form of training. I have seen many methods of learning a language and would only rate Rosetta Stone at about a 5 of 10.
