what is a good free video capturing software for wii using easy-cap ?

i have an easy-cap but the easy-cap software is crap and i cant install it, do any of you recommend another? a free good quality software?

does the easy-cap show up as a standard capture device? if so VLC has an option to record, as well as being able to play pretty much any video/audio format currently out. plus, free both as in cost and freedom, which is always a plus
